Character Bio

With the basic character models now completed... allow me to formally introduce them!

Carl
A Hover-car mechanic and avid fan of watching Neptunean Football, Carl is brash and confident - yet Kris informs me that he's often quite endearing and even 'cute' to the ladies (Just don't say it to his face). Somewhat of a slacker and even a bit reckless at times, Carl admires the simple things in life. He loves nothing more than to kill an afternoon watching sports, eating pizza and looking after his Anti-Grav Budgie - Stewart. That said, he occasionally loves canoeing down the magma rapids from the volcano on the outskirts of his town, and wishes to pursue this as a career. He might not be the most acamedically-minded... but he is a quick-thinker and is often caught doing Sudoku on the newspapers between repairs at work. Meeting Kris proved to be somewhat of an advantage of him, as he was finally able to find a chess opponent (The other lads at the garage don't take kindly to parlour games). His ultimate goal with Kris is to help him loosen up, learn to have fun and meet a few nice women. In lieu of this: He sets the example by being expressive, drinking until the cows come home and wearing viking helmets. He's fun and playful... but he has a temper if wound up.

Kris

Kris is a hard-working alien who is quickly rising through the ranks in the Meteorite Insurance Business. Dedicated to his work, he has frequently been caught bringing his PJ's and a sleeping bag to work so that he may work overtime. As a result, he doesn't often find much time for fun, and is somewhat nervous in social situations. He is, however, exceptionally confident in his work - Holding the knowledge that the work he produces is of the highest quality around. This can make him a bit big-headed at times, and if often requires Carl to bring him back to reality. He is sensible and often unwilling to take risks or express himself (He did once, at Kare-Oke, and still hasn't forgiven Carl for volunteering him). He secretly wishes to see Carl achieve success, and is often attempting to pique his interest in the finer arts and big business.

How did they meet?
The 2 of them met in college, when they were both room-mates. Needless to say, the contrasting personalities set them off to a ropey start... Carl was always bringing his mates around for several drinks and parties, and Kris was always up late working and studying. They found common ground when one night Carl spotted Kris playing chess online. Chess had always piqued Carl's curiosity, but he never found anyone to play it with. So grabbing a beer, he asked Kris to explain the rules to him. Much to Kris' surprise, Carl picked it up very quickly and showed an aptitude which he rarely demonstrated in class. It was here that they found common ground, and started to be more 'open' to eachother's ways of life. Carl introduced Kris to his network of mates and encouraged him to have fun more, and Kris helped Carl with his work. You could almost say they influenced eachother for the better, and thus, a strong friendship was born.

In between their normal socialising, they frequently meet-up for a Chess-Match. They normally play Marsian Chess, which involves real people fighting eachother - But the PACTX (Protection Against Cruelty To Xenos) would not allow the showing of this - So they had to play regular chess in this match
